Melanin is often described as the Chemical of Life. Most people know that it is related to skin pigmentation, but how many people know it's relationship to the eye, the ear, the internal organs, the pineal gland? How many people know that the effects of cocaine and other drugs are more severe on deeply melanated people than on lightly melanated people (could this be a factor in the high incidence of drug addiction in the Black community?), or how melanin is related to our sexual energy and to our spiritual energy?
Scientists and scholars all over the world are seriously researching Melanin and it's effects on human life. Much has been learned and much is being learned. We are fortunate to have many African scholars, Melanin experts of world renown, who so willingly impart their knowledge and expertise to us. The William Leo Hansberry Institute and The Kheper-RA Institute, are hard at work to make this knowledge and information available to the Black community.
